Peace in the Midst of Difficult Circumstances
Because of our salvation, found in Christ, we are at peace with God for our souls. But we can also find our peace of mind in Him as we focus on Him and not our circumstances. We can work toward peace by being at peace with other people.
Use these prayer points to pray for peace in the Lord, no matter what your circumstances may be.
Pray that God will help you trust your concerns to Him. “In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Ask God to keep your trust in Him. “You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3
Pray that you will let your worries go to God. “Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Ask God to show you His comfort. “In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.” Psalm 94:19
Pray that you will not be a hindrance to peace in your relationships. “If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.” Romans 12:18
Comfort for Those Facing Loss
Turn to God for comfort in the loss of the loved one, or someone who is important to you.
Pray that you will feel God’s presence in your grief. “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.” Psalm 34:18
Ask God for comfort as you mourn. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
Thank God for His comfort and the comfort of others. Pray that He will help you offer comfort to others in due time. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Thank the Lord for eternity, where we will no longer need to mourn. “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more. The first things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
Pray that God will help you feel His love today. “For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
Courage to Face the Unknown
Sometimes we need God’s comfort and peace the most when we don’t know what lies ahead. These prayer points can help us ask for courage when we face uncertain circumstances.
Pray that God will help you look to Him for strength and courage. “The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1
Ask God to provide His true peace to you. “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.” John 14:27
Thank God that He has shown us many times in the Bible that He is trustworthy. “The LORD himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Pray that the Lord will help you reject the spirit of fear. “For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Ask God to know His presence as you go through challenging times. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
