Whether you’ve planning for the baptism for 10 days or 10 minutes, using a printable certificate of baptism can help you provide a customized certificate in a matter of moments.
If you don’t happen to have ready-made certificates on hand like these, a printable certificate can help you take care of this important detail quickly. They are easy to print on your church printer or home printer.
You’ll be adding the following information to the certificate: name of the person, date of the baptism, church name, and the name of the officiating minister, as well as a signature by that person.
Printable .PDFs you can fill out by hand are very handy to have on file in the church office. But if you want a fully customized certificate, there are free options for Canva templates and editable .PDFs.
Canva Templates. Canva is a user-friendly, online graphic design platform that allows users to create a wide range of visual content easily. You don’t need to be a designer to use it, and there is a free option available as well as a paid one.
Our church has a free “Pro” account under their Canva for Nonprofits program – check the eligibility details for your religious institution. Canva is easy to learn for people with a variety of skills. Someone who has extensively used Photoshop might say Canva does not have all the features, but it has enough for most uses.
PDF Templates. There are .PDF formats that are editable, and .PDF formats that are not editable. For the non-editable PDF format, you would print them out and fill them out by hand. For editable PDF format, you would fill them out online, then print them.
Word Templates. Microsoft Word templates for printable templates of baptism certificates, in our research, seem to be more of a paid option. An alternative free option would be to customize with your own text an existing one of generic certificates they have for various purposes from their gallery.
While to some this might just seem like a piece of paper, this is an official document from the church that has great personal meaning to some people and their family members. It marks a special point in their relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s a great way to encourage them in their faith.
It can also be an important document if someone is transferring churches and needs proof of baptism to give the church authorities of their new church.
Providing each person their own baptism certificate is a small but thoughtful detail to include in a person’s baptism experience at your church.

Please note, as we were taking a look around Pinterest and the internet at large, there appear to be many options available for free printable baptism certificates. However, on closer look in research for this article, some of those are websites that produced some badware warnings and redirects.
This greatly reduced the number of free printable baptism certificate sites we are sharing with you. The links included here checked out when we published the article; we’ll make updates if we see that anything has changed with them.

Church Ministry Help
Our own website, Church Ministry Help, has 2 free black and white certificate options. One is a printable .PDF, and the other is a Canva template. They are free for church use.
Please don’t print them to sell or sell the digital files. If you want to share them with others, please send them a link to this post, and not directly to the files.
This printable .PDF baptismal certificate is in black and white, and is meant to be printed on 8 ½ x 11 letter-sized paper. If you’d like to add some color to this, consider printing it on plain colored paper or specialty printer paper, like parchment printer paper.

If you are comfortable with Canva, or are willing to learn Canva to work on this and other projects, this Canva template in black and white can be customized in many ways! Of course, change the name, the religious organization, the date, and the officiating clergy.
But depending on your skill level and the amount of time you have available, you can customize this free baptism certificate template not only with your important information, but also with different fonts, corners or colors. You could include additional information, like a verse or a picture.

Real Life at Home
This set of certificates by Real Life at Home is under their “Catholic Printables” category. It is an excellent choice for a printable .pdf to fill out by hand. It also includes certificates for Confirmation and First Communion.
The certificate uses the phrase “baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” which some people would prefer to include on their certificate.
Hoover Web Design
This site has just a few designs, and doesn’t appear to have been updated for a while. But it has one of the few free editable .PDF baptism certificates we’ve spotted (the color one with the flower in one corner.) If this fits your needs, then it’s a good choice for you.
Canva’s Own Templates
Canva has many sample templates for a variety of uses, and that includes printable baptism certificate templates. There are many different styles of customizable templates. Here are a few of the different options they offer – the ones linked below are free, but their are free and pro templates on this page.
This is a nice option for a more vintage look certificate.
This elegant baptism certificate just needs a few personal details to complete it.
This template has space for two signatures, which can be helpful for including combinations of people like a pastor’s signature with a Christian education deacon’s signature.
