Thankfulness for Jesus’ Sacrifice

Spend time reflecting on Jesus’ sacrifice for us at the cross.

Thank God for His compassion on us, even before our repentance. “But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Be grateful for the gift of Jesus to us. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Give thanks for our redemption through Jesus. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.” 1 Peter 2:24

Be thankful for God’s grace. “But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5

Thank God for our peace with Him through Jesus. “But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

Give thanks that Christ bore our sins. “For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

Be thankful for the salvation found in Jesus Christ. “So Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, without sin, to those who are eagerly waiting for him for salvation.” Hebrews 9:28

Praise for the Power of the Resurrection

Praise God for His resurrection power!

Praise God for His power to raise Jesus from the dead. “He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where the Lord was lying.” Matthew 28:6

Thank Jesus for being our salvation. “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.'” John 11:25

Praise God for giving life to us through the Holy Spirit, just as He resurrected Jesus. “But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11

Thank Jesus for His power over our eternity. “I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever. Amen. I have the keys of Death and of Hades.” Revelation 1:18b

Praise God for being born again. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3

Boldness to Proclaim the Gospel

We have been given salvation through Jesus’ work for us on the cross. Let’s pray for boldness in sharing this hope we have in Him!

Pray for strength, wisdom, and boldness in sharing the Word of God. “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Ask God to help you let go of your fear in sharing your faith. “For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. Therefore don’t be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God.” 2 Timothy 1:7-8

Pray for doors to open to share the Gospel. “Praying together for us also, that God may open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds.” Colossians 4:3

Ask God to help you see opportunities to share the Gospel, no matter the circumstances. “On my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” Ephesians 6:19-20

Pray to be open with others about your relationship with Christ. “For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first, and also for the Greek.” Romans 1:16

Ask God to help you be bold in sharing your faith where He has called you to share. “Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness.” Acts 4:29

Pray that God will help you prepare to share your testimony with others. “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear.” 1 Peter 3:15

Strength for Servant Leadership

Easter often brings a lot of extra activities and programs at church. Praying for the staff and volunteers is a great way to support them in their work. These prayer points and the prayer sheet do not mention Easter, so it is suited for year-round use.

Pray for faithfulness in serving the Lord. “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

Ask God for strength to persevere, even when results seem slow to arrive. “Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9

Pray for humble servant hearts. “Doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.” Philippians 2:3-4

Ask God for service as unto Him. “And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24

Pray for renewed strength in serving the Lord. “But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 WEBBE

Ask God for reliance on His grace in service. “He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, and in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
